The wider Litherland REMYCA club has been part of Merseyside football since 1959, when it began in Seaforth as St Thomas FC. The side later became Bootle Church Lads Brigade, finding a base through Bootle YMCA.
In 1967 the team became REM Social after gaining support from a local social club. The following year, the REM and YMCA connections came together in the name REMYCA United. The club went on to compete successfully in the I Zingari League, winning its first league title in 1987–88 and the Lancashire FA Amateur Cup in 1990–91.
The name Litherland REMYCA reflects the club's connection to the local community. Today, our Women and Under 17s Girls teams continue that football story with an emphasis on teamwork, opportunity and respect.
